Irruption is a mass movement of birds south all at once because food has failed further north, from the Latin irrumpere, to break in. The tee prints it over a bare rowan tree crowded with waxwings feeding on the last berries, with the line the winter the north empties out beneath it.

Tshirts are fine. Perhaps a tad too big compared to the a normal Large size. Certainly not a slim fit design. I waited quite a long period to get them, around a month.

What does irruption mean?
Irruption means a mass movement of birds, such as waxwings or redpolls, south all at once when food fails further north, an invasion year in birdwatchers' terms. Merriam-Webster also uses it more broadly for any sudden sharp increase in a population, a sense documented well beyond birdwatching.
Where does the word irruption come from?
Irruption comes from the Latin irruptio, itself from irrumpere, to break in, built from in- and rumpere, to break. Cornell Lab's FeederWatch project uses the birding sense for species such as redpolls, grosbeaks and nuthatches moving south together in search of food.
What is printed on the irruption T-shirt?
The word irruption over a bare rowan tree crowded with waxwings feeding on the last of the berries, with the line the winter the north empties out beneath it. It is printed on the front of a lightweight 4.5 oz cotton tee with a regular unisex fit and a printed neck label.
